About

Curriculum Guru Science resources provide students with a way to experience Science first-hand. Each resource has been designed to integrate Math, Science and Technology in a practical and creative way so that students can learn about Science while they do Science. These resources have been developed to show students that they can do Science and that they are scientists! Experiments show learners that they have to follow a method and to make the learning meaningful they have to think about what they are going to do, why they are doing it and what the results might mean. Each experiment and task has been hand-picked and designed by a professional educator.

Each experiment has been tested and every topic, researched. The R-12 CURRICULUM has been extensively studied and the strands identified that run through the curriculum to ensure the knowledge from each Grade builds on the previous year and sets students up for success the following year.

The 2-5 years resources have been designed to follow the LIFE SKILLS CURRICULUM. Within Life Skills there is a Natural Science strand that focusses on introducing scientific knowledge and skills to our youngest scientists. Experiment Books for these ages contain age-appropriate knowledge, skills and hands-on tasks that students can do with the guidance of a parent or teacher.

Foundation Phase (Grade R-3) My Laboratory Book introduces little scientist to Science, Scientific terminology, Lab equipment, safety in the lab, and basic research skills. The Home Experiment Books are guided by topics and themes throughout the LIFE SKILLS CURRICULUM and aims to prepare students for Science in the Intermediate Phase.

In the Intermediate Phase (Grade 4-6) students are introduces to Natural Science as a subject in Grade 4. The Laboratory Books welcome students to the Laboratory and introduces the lab equipment and safety protocols they will need in the classroom. This series also introduces learners to research and guides them through the Scientific Method. Although the Scientific Method is not the only way we can conduct research, it provides learners with a frame of reference and teaches them to be inquisitive thinkers, observe, analyse and draw conclusions.

Grade 4-6 Home Experiment Books provide learners with opportunities to take the content they learn and apply it, practically. Worksheets are designed to be creative and interesting so that learners want to read more and do more research. The worksheets contain additional information and facts about topics that students relate to. For curious minds, there are additional readings with most worksheets. Formal assessments include an experiment and a term test, each with a memo and teacher notes

Curriculum Guru Science Resources enrich the curriculum and provide students and teachers with multiple ways to introduce students to the world of Science and to make Science fun!

Meet Jennifer...

Hi! I’m Jennifer and I am passionate about all things SCIENCE, MATH AND TECHNOLOGY! I have been a classroom teacher since 2014 and have taught multiple grade levels in different schools in South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Germany. I have taught IEB and IB curricula and I am currently a lecturer at Nelson Mandela University in the Faculty of Education. In addition to teaching full-time, I am completing my Master’s in Education. Because I have a deep-rooted love for research, I have been involved with the Gauteng North Science Expo and FLL Robotics.

I began designing science resources in 2020 when I realised students cannot perform experiments and experience Science the way they would before COVID-19. Students are also looking for real-world and relatable concepts to make sense of abstract and challenging science concepts. I started designing experiments and activities that students can do at home with the use of simple and affordable materials, tutorials, videos and interesting research tasks so that their learning will be enriched and they will get the experience of they should in the Science classroom. I have developed a range of resources suitable for the classroom, home-schooling and for enriching the curious and academically advanced students’ knowledge.
